Cheonggyecheon Museum: Visit the Museum Before Choosing Your Stream Walk

Treat Cheonggyecheon Museum as a specific destination rather than assuming it sits beside every central stream landmark.

Save the museum’s own destination

KTO lists Cheonggyecheon Museum (청계천박물관) at 530 Cheonggyecheon-ro, Seongdong-gu. Its exhibitions address the stream and the city’s changes. The address matters: a pin for Cheonggyecheon in central Seoul does not necessarily take you to this museum. Save the Korean museum name as well as the street address.

Use the museum as the first anchor if learning about the stream is your priority. Check current opening, closure and last-entry information before choosing a departure time. The museum and outdoor stream paths have different access considerations, so one being available does not establish that the other is suitable that day.

As checked October 25, 2026, the museum’s own visitor guide lists Tuesday–Sunday opening from 09:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30. Admission is free; Mondays and January 1 are closed. Use that current visitor guide for your final check, since older overview pages can show different hours.

Connect the history to a short outdoor segment

Choose one change in the stream’s history to follow through the exhibits. Look for dates and context rather than treating every historical image as a view of the present. If you take notes, record the label’s subject so photographs make sense after the visit.

Afterward, decide whether an outdoor walk fits the weather and your group’s energy. Select a named bridge or exit and check the current path. Do not commit to walking all the way to a distant central landmark simply because both places share the stream’s name. A museum-only visit is a complete alternative in poor weather.
