Haedong Yonggungsa Temple: Busan tourist attractions

About the destination
The temple was founded in 1376 (Wuwang 2). This was during the Goryeo Dynasty. It was established by Nayong Hyegeun, a king of the Gongmin Kingdom. When Hye-geun was the governor of Bunhwangsa Temple in Gyeongju, there was a great drought in the country, and one day a dragon king appeared in a dream and told him that if he built a temple at the end of Bongnae Mountain and prayed, there would be no drought or wind, and the country would be peaceful.
In 1974, Jeongam took office and prayed for the restoration of Kannon Doyang. He had a dream of the white-robed Kannon Bodhisattva ascending to heaven on a dragon.

Gamcheon Culture Village: Busan Tourist Attractions Ranking

About the Destination
Gamcheon Cultural Village was founded on June 25, 1950. It served as a place for evacuees to live in hardship. Since then, it has preserved a cross-section of modern Korean history and the history of Busan. The landscape of terraced group houses lined up in an orderly fashion along the mountainside and the labyrinth of alleys that run through all the roads show the uniqueness of Gamcheon. Local artists and villagers started the Village Art Project to revitalize the character and historical value of Gamcheon. This initiative became a stepping stone for the creation of Gamcheon Cultural Village. It attracted various public projects in 2019. We are grateful for the efforts of the villagers, activists, artists, ward officials, and Dongju Residents’ Center officials who worked together to create Gamcheon Cultural Village, and we will work together to make it even more beautiful.

Taejongdae: Busan tourist attractions

About the destination
Designated as Busan Monument No. 28 on June 26, 1972, and as a Nationally Designated Cultural Property No. 17 on November 1, 2005. Located at the southeastern tip of Yeongdo Island, it is a hilly area below 200 meters above sea level with dense forests, sea cliffs made of bizarre rock formations, and the blue sea. It is also called Shinseongdae because it was once the home of Silla. However, the name Taejongdae became commonplace because it is said to be the place where King Taejong of Silla died.
Oryukdo Island seems close, and on a clear day, Japan’s Tsushima Island, 56 kilometers away, can be seen faintly as a black dot in the sea. The 60-year-old Yeongdo Lighthouse stands on a steep coastal cliff on the island’s southeast side; nearby are Shinsindae Rock and Mangbu Stone; and the famous Mother Statue is located at the observation deck at the midpoint of the circular tourist trail. Other attractions include the Gonpo House, an artificial saltwater pool, and a sea fishing spot, and a 10-meter-wide, 4-kilometer-long circular tourist trail passes through the island.

Beomeosa Temple: Busan tourist attractions

About the destination
Beomeosa Temple is one of the ten temples of Hwaeomseopchal, founded in the 18th year of King Munmu of Silla (678).
The temple was rebuilt during the reign of King Heungdeok of Silla. It is historically significant as a famous Korean temple. The temple produced numerous monks, including Wonhyo, Pyohun, Nakan, Yeongseong, Maehak, and Myeongjeon.
The story of the spirit of defeating the Japanese invaders is a combination of the religious origins of the Buddha’s prestige and the state’s intention to exploit the temple’s powerless base, making Beomeosa the epitome of Korean patriotism. Beomeosa served a dual purpose. It was a religious center for the community. It also functioned as a national sadist temple responsible for the security of the east coast at the national level.
Seosan was known for his public relations activities during the Imjin War. He used Beomeosa as a base. During the Japanese occupation, students studying there led an independence movement called the “Beomeosa Hakrimgeo.” They created the Taegeuk flag for use at Beomeosa.

It is a wholesale and retail market where machine tools, electrical and electronic appliances, kitchen utensils, and clothing are the main items, divided into 1 to 6 warehouses, and food, agricultural, livestock, and industrial goods stores are located in a maze of alleys.
