Busan Dining Guide: Best Places for Cod Soup and Sashimi

Not only does Busan have famous beaches such as Haeundae, Gwangalli, Dadaepo, and Songjeong, but it also has convenient transportation and plenty of activities. In addition, there are many unique foods such as sashimi, pork soup, wheat noodles, eel, Nakgopse, Dongnae pajeon, and lamb gopchang.

In this article, we’ve prepared five restaurants in Busan that are famous for their cod soup, conger eel sashimi, pork soup, blue crab, and wheat noodles. They will be your traveling companions without regret.

1. Haeundae’s ‘Uncle Daejangtang’, a perfect seafood soup with a refreshing cold broth

his restaurant serves hot cod soup with home-style side dishes. It is also famous for having many longtime customers. The thick soup is made with cod heads, and the pure color makes you feel like you’re eating seafood. The soup is refreshing and has a nice sharp flavor with cheongyang chili peppers.
The specialty of the restaurant is the mungge jjigal with chopped onion, which you can eat by adding rice to the dried seaweed and topping it with mungge jjigal. The salty and spicy flavors of the jjigal go perfectly with the cod soup. A classic tip is to add a little vinegar to enhance the flavor.

Review (Sikshin 552576): This is the most delicious restaurant in all of Mipo Dalmajigae. They use less seasoning than other restaurants, so the taste is refreshing even after eating!

2. Muujinjang Famous Snow Flower Conger Eel Sashimi, Gijang ‘Muujinjang Heopjip’

his restaurant specializes in conger eel sashimi. It is also known as “snowflake sashimi” because the anago (conger eel) is sliced into thread-like pieces for a fluffy texture. You can enjoy conger eel sashimi with cabbage sprinkled with soybean paste. The moderately sweet vinegar goes well with the conger eel without overpowering its flavor.
The original savory flavor of eel sashimi is amplified by the addition of soybean powder. You can also add crunchy seaweed for an interesting texture.

Review (Sikshin Haeundae Sweatshirt): Anago No. 1… Lettuce, sesame leaves, a spoonful of anago, garlic, red pepper, and a handful of vinegar… The conger eel turns into a snowflake and coats your mouth. It’s fun to eat the spicy soup boiled in the mouth with Daegari.

3. Busan’s representative soul food pork soup, Busan Station ‘Sinchang Gukbap’

A restaurant specializing in Busan pork soup that started in Toseong-dong, Busan in 1969. The branch right in front of Busan Station is a space where customers traveling to and from Busan Station can easily enjoy soup.
The restaurant serves a clear gomtang-style soup, which contains leeks, which are indispensable for Busan-style pork soup, and a marinade that transforms it into a thick soup. The flavorful and refreshing soup is quite light, so it’s perfect for eating with rice. You can also order a mix of meat, sundae, and offal to your liking.

Price: Pork soup 8,000 won, beef backbone 11,000 won, beef (assorted) 28,000 to 40,000 won
Review (Sikshin Healthy Foodist): The kimchi served cold is not my favorite style. The kimchi is a bit sour and far from fresh. The soup is a different color from the previous pork soup. It’s black and the soup is seasoned. On the other hand, the chives were barely seasoned, which balanced the flavors somewhat. Mmm…

4. Flag House, a hot spring resort famous for its blue crab and sashimi

This restaurant is located near Gomjangjang Alley in Oncheon. The fresh blue crab is cooked in a miso broth that the crab is soaked in. It’s easy to think of flower crab soup without soup, but the flavor of the crab meat and intestines is different from soy sauce crab soup, and it threatens to steal the show.
In summer, flounder sashimi, also known as mizuguri, is also popular. You can choose between the traditional gochujang-based mulhoe, which is served without broth and with only the moisture of vegetables, or the sweet and sour flesh mulhoe.

5. ‘Kimganegaya Milmyeon’ at Gimhae Airport, the essence of Busan wheat noodles

A wheat noodle restaurant located near Gimhae Airport. It is characterized by a slightly dark-colored broth that is simmered for three days with beef bones and various vegetables and seasoned with brewed soy sauce.
The tangy noodles and the garnishes, such as flank steak, egg, marinade, cucumber, and almonds, are colorful, and the cool broth floating in the water is perfect for summer. Please note that the soup and noodles are not available during the summer due to the large number of customers.
