Seoul City Wall Museum: Start Indoors Before Choosing a Wall Walk

Seoul City Wall Museum is free, opens 09:00–18:00, and admits visitors until 17:30. It closes on Mondays and January 1. Start here if you want an indoor introduction before deciding how much of the neighboring wall to walk.

The resource room has a separate timetable; do not use its hours as the museum’s general opening hours. The operator’s Korean visitor guide explicitly confirms the 17:30 admission cutoff. For access questions, call +82-2-724-0243.

Save 한양도성박물관 as the destination in your map app. Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station is a different station: a familiar neighborhood name alone is not enough to choose your exit. Match the museum name and street address before starting the last part on foot.

Use the indoor stop to decide your outdoor plan

The exhibition covers the wall’s history from the Joseon period to the present. A useful question to take inside is how a defensive boundary became part of a modern city. Look for the relationship between the wall, gates and terrain; then decide whether you want a short view outside or a longer walk.

For a first visit, make the museum the fixed part of the outing and the climb optional. Leave time before the admission cutoff rather than arriving at 17:30 with a packed itinerary. This is Passja planning advice, not an official recommended visit duration or a guided-tour booking.

Choose your finish before you climb

The park photograph shows the sloping setting; it does not establish a step-free route or today’s path conditions. If you use a wheelchair, travel with a stroller, or need to avoid steps, ask the museum about the current entrance and lift access before relying on a walking route. A station exit number by itself is not an accessibility guarantee.

Before extending the visit, choose a turnaround point, a way back to transport, and enough daylight for the descent. In rain, poor visibility or uncomfortable heat, an indoor-only visit is a complete plan. Museum closing time should not be used to infer the opening hours of every separate wall section.

Both photographs are dated exterior views, not evidence of current exhibition layouts or operating conditions.
