Unhyeongung is a free historic residence near Anguk station, with a dated evening-opening program in autumn 2026. Choose your day carefully: the extended timetable does not apply every evening and should not be carried forward into winter.

The autumn timetable: Thursday is different
For Thursday, October 29, use 09:00–18:00. The operator’s current homepage lists 09:00–21:00 Tuesday–Sunday with a specific Thursday exception of 09:00–18:00. Do not arrive on Thursday expecting the extended evening opening.
Visit Seoul’s September 12 update describes an autumn extension from September 1 through November 29, 2026, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: closing at 21:00, last admission at 20:30. Monday is the regular closure day, except public-holiday Mondays.
Why two times appear online: the operator’s general visitor guide still lists April–October hours of 09:00–19:00, entry by 18:30, and November–March hours of 09:00–18:00, entry by 17:30, plus Friday evening opening. Its live homepage now gives the broader evening schedule and the shorter Thursday exception. This guide follows that specific current Thursday instruction. The homepage does not state a Thursday last-entry time, so arrive comfortably before closing or ask 02-766-9090 before travelling late.
Save 운현궁, 464 Samil-daero, Jongno-gu. The official tourism page directs visitors to Anguk station on Line 3, exit 4. Free admission makes this a practical short visit, but it does not reserve participation in a performance or hands-on program.

Look at a residence, rather than racing through a palace list
The site is associated with Heungseon Daewongun and Gojong’s life before becoming king. Use that domestic scale as your focus. Compare the courtyards, thresholds and room arrangement, and read one interpretation panel carefully before moving on.
Allow around 45–60 minutes as a flexible independent visit, longer if an event interests you. This is a suggested allowance, not an official tour length. Evening light changes how you see the buildings, but daylight can be easier for reading signs and understanding the layout.
Culture commentary pauses on October 30–31
The operator’s October 26 notice suspends cultural commentary on October 28, 30 and 31, 2026; the 30th and 31st are for equipment setup and rehearsals. This is a commentary-service notice, not an announcement that the whole residence is closed. Plan to explore independently on those dates rather than promising an available guided visit.

Do one final date check
After November 29, do not assume the evening program continues. Check the operator’s current announcement and the exact program reservation conditions before travelling specifically for an event. Leave time to enter before the stated last-admission deadline.
