MMCA Seoul offers free exhibition admission on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, 18:00–21:00, but free does not mean you can ignore ticketing or capacity. Choose the Seoul branch, name the exhibition you want and check its booking instructions before deciding between a daytime ticket and a late visit.

MMCA Seoul hours and free admission
| Plan | Current visitor information |
|---|---|
| Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday | 10:00–18:00 |
| Wednesday and Saturday | 10:00–21:00; free evening admission 18:00–21:00 |
| Culture Day | Free admission on the last Wednesday of each month |
| Regular holiday closures | January 1, Seollal and Chuseok day |
| Temporary closure notice | The Korean Seoul page lists Tuesday, 1 December 2026 |
| Address and enquiries | 30 Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul; +82-2-3701-9500 |
The Seoul branch opens on ordinary Mondays; do not import another museum’s Monday closure into this plan. Its Korean page also identifies a December 1 temporary closure. Confirm the notice again for a December trip, even if an exhibition’s overall dates include that day.
Current exhibitions: compare the actual tickets
| Exhibition | Listed period and location | Standard fee |
|---|---|---|
| Do Ho Suh (서도호) | 27 August 2026–9 February 2027; B1 Galleries 3–5 and 2F MMCA Studio | 8,000 won |
| Korea Artist Prize 2026 (올해의 작가상) | 24 July–6 December 2026; 1F Gallery 1 and B1 Gallery 2 | 2,000 won |
These are current entries in the official Seoul reservation listing, checked on 5 November 2026. The two standard ticket prices add to 10,000 won; that calculation does not establish that an integrated ticket is currently on sale.
The general visitor policy lists a 10,000-won all-pass only when three or more paid exhibitions operate. Check the available product rather than assuming the all-pass exists every day. For an eligible free or discounted ticket, bring the required documentation and follow the exhibition’s verification process.
Do Ho Suh booking: the practical limits
The official Do Ho Suh booking page says a week of slots opens each Monday at 18:00, with up to four tickets per account for an exhibition on a visit date. Same-day tickets are sold by session and may sell out early; online advance booking is recommended. Tickets must not be transferred or resold.
Entry uses a QR ticket and is allowed once. Where a booking relies on another visitor’s free or discount eligibility, the information desk checks documents before activating the QR ticket. Cancellation is available before the session begins, with a full refund before that time; after the start, cancellation and refunds are unavailable. Check your session before paying.
Treat the evening’s zero admission price and the exhibition’s entry process as separate questions. Ask the desk how to obtain the appropriate ticket for the free window and whether your chosen session has space. A general free-admission rule is not proof that a particular time slot is available.
From Anguk Station to the correct branch
The museum’s directions use Anguk Station on Line 3, Exit 1: walk about 500 metres toward Dongsipjagak, then turn right for roughly another 500 metres along Samcheong-ro. Save 국립현대미술관 서울 and 30 Samcheong-ro in your map app. Gwacheon and Deoksugung are different branches.
For a late visit, plan backwards from the 21:00 close. One exhibition can be the anchor, with another optional if time and admission permit. Arriving just before closing leaves little time for orientation or ticket questions. The booking page warns that weekend and holiday parking is difficult, so public transport is the simpler starting point.
