National Science Museum Daejeon has free exhibition halls and separately ticketed experiences. You do not need to buy one general admission ticket for the whole campus. Choose your main hall first, then reserve any paid session and plan the local journey from Daejeon Station.

National Science Museum Daejeon: hours and admission
| Decision | Current guide |
|---|---|
| Address | 481 Daedeok-daero, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon (국립중앙과학관) |
| Campus visiting hours | 09:30–17:30; individual sessions have separate times |
| Regular closure | Mondays, January 1, Seollal and Chuseok day; holiday-opening arrangements can shift the closure |
| Free examples | Science & Technology, Natural History and Future Tech halls; some experiences still need reservations or tickets |
| Paid halls | Science Alive Discovery Center (창의나래관), KkumAty Hall (꿈아띠체험관) and Planetarium (천체관) |
| Visitor enquiries | 042-601-7979 (+82-42-601-7979 from overseas) |
The official visitor guide separates free halls from paid admission. A free hall is a good flexible anchor, but check the chosen activity rather than assuming that every experience inside it is unreserved. Food and drinks belong in designated areas, outside exhibition halls.
Paid tickets: prices, ages and reservations
The current Korean paid-hall table lists standard adult admission at 2,000 won per paid hall, for ages 19–64. Listed child/youth admission is 1,000 won; age and entry rules differ by hall. KkumAty is for preschool children aged six or younger, with accompanying adults. The Planetarium excludes children under 36 months. Do not apply one hall’s baby admission rule to another.
Reservations open at midnight 30 days before the visit. Every Wednesday has a 50% Culture Day discount, without an additional group discount. For one paid hall at the standard rate, two adults and one eligible 1,000-won child ticket total 5,000 won; this is an example calculation, not a family package. Check any exemption documents and the selected ticket before payment.
Use the museum’s official reservation portal. The live Science Alive page recommends its experiences for grade-five pupils and above, including adults; a low child fare does not mean every exhibit suits a small child. Language support was not confirmed, so ask before booking a commentary-based programme if English is essential.
Same-day tickets have their own cutoff
| Paid hall | Published sessions | Same-day counter/kiosk limit |
|---|---|---|
| Science Alive | 09:30–11:30; 12:30–14:30; 15:00–17:00 | 10:30; 13:30; 16:00 respectively |
| KkumAty | 10:00–11:50; 13:00–14:50; 15:40–17:30 | 11:30; 14:30; 17:00 respectively |
| Planetarium | 10:00, 11:00, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30 starts; 30-minute sessions | No same-day ticket issuance after the session starts |
These are the limits in the 31 August 2026 same-day ticket notice, not a guarantee of remaining seats. Reserve ahead when the session is the reason for your trip. The Planetarium guide says check-in begins ten minutes before screening and late entry is prohibited. Arrive before the start even if a different hall permits later counter sales.
From Daejeon Station to the museum
The museum’s directions give a practical route: Daejeon Metro Line 1 to Government Complex Daejeon Station (정부청사역), Exit 3, then walk to the Dunsan Police Station bus stop. Bus 604 serves the National Science Museum stop. A taxi from the metro station is another option. The train station, metro exit and museum gate are different stages of the journey.
Save the Korean museum name and street address before leaving. If arriving by intercity rail, allow a local-transfer buffer before a paid appointment. A Seoul science-museum booking or map pin is for a different destination; this campus is in Daejeon.
Construction notice and a manageable visit
An official 8 October 2026 construction notice schedules visitor-parking improvements through 26 December 2026 and pile-driving near the customer parking area into early December, both planned dates. Noise and vibration may occur. The 2019 photograph above is not evidence of today’s parking layout.
Choose one free hall plus one booked experience instead of trying to cover the campus between appointments. Protect the paid-session arrival time and shorten optional browsing if the journey runs late. For a quieter or more flexible day, free browsing avoids building the entire visit around a screening deadline.
