Seonyudo Park: Plan the Island Approach and a Short Garden Walk

For Seonyudo Park, plan how you will reach the island and leave it before choosing a compact garden walk.

Understand what you are visiting

Seonyudo Park (선유도공원) is an ecological park created from an old water treatment plant. KTO describes aquatic planting and reused water infrastructure, making the site useful for a walk focused on landscape and industrial reuse rather than a long list of paid attractions. Save its name and 343 Seonyu-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu.

The island setting makes the approach part of the outing. Select a real pedestrian arrival point on your map and check the connection from your transit stop. Do not assume a station named Seonyudo puts you at a garden entrance, or that every route has identical slopes, crossings and walking effort.

Seoul’s official park guide lists Seonyudo Station on Line 9 and Dangsan Station on Lines 2 and 9 as access options. Its 2026 tourist guidebook identifies Seonyudo Station Exit 2 as a starting reference. Compare the complete walking route from the station you choose; the exit number alone is not an entrance or a guarantee of a step-free path.

Choose a manageable route through the park

On arrival, use the posted park map to choose one short route through the gardens and retained structures. Look at how planted spaces occupy former infrastructure. Keep photographs and pauses within your walking budget; the trip back to public transport still belongs inside the time you have set aside.

Check park notices before traveling and follow closures around water features or paths. Treat an exhibition, guided program or indoor facility as a separate visit with its own operating information. If weather makes the exposed approach unpleasant, shorten the visit or choose another activity instead of relying on a sunset photograph.
