A practical Korean rail booking check for departure stations, service details, seats and the onward journey after you arrive.

Book a journey between exact stations
Start with the station names your trip actually requires. A city can have several railway stations, and a hotel district is not necessarily the station printed on a train ticket. Save the Korean and English station names so you can compare your booking with station signs.
Korea Tourism Organization’s train guide describes KTX, SRT and conventional services and links booking resources. Choose by the actual departure, arrival and stopping pattern. Do not assume every train using a familiar city name calls at the same station.
For example, Seoul Station (서울역), Yongsan (용산역) and Suseo (수서역) are different departure points within the Seoul area. Copy the station printed on the selected service into your journey to the station; searching only for “Seoul” is too broad.
Review the whole booking screen
Before paying, compare travel date, departure time, station pair, passenger count and seat class. If the interface offers forward- or backward-facing seats, make your selection consciously rather than assuming direction from a carriage diagram.
After payment, locate the actual ticket and its retrieval instructions. Keep the train number, carriage and seat available for boarding. A payment notice or search result is not always the document the booking service instructs you to present. Check the service’s own rules for changes, cancellation and ticket access.
At the station, compare the departure board with your ticket’s date, time and train number before heading to the platform. Then match the carriage and seat. Keep the ticket accessible on your phone and have enough battery for the journey.

Leave time for both station visits
Plan the route to the departure station, including any subway transfer, luggage movement and locating the platform. The train departure time is when the train leaves; it is not a suggested arrival time at the building.
At the other end, save the route from the arrival station to your first stop. If a specific departure is unavailable, compare a different time, station or service only after checking how it changes the onward trip. Avoid buying a rail pass solely because a day trip sounds long: compare the relevant coverage and the journeys you will actually take.
